Film Food Love

Have you ever watched a film and found yourself deeply moved or inspired?

Movies capture our emotions and allow us to reflect on our lives. Behind-the-scenes, making a movie can feel like one of those military operations. There’s lots of yelling and tears, something is being shot, and at the end of the day, you don’t know if what you did made a difference or if you’ll be embarrassed to tell anyone you almost died making Fast and Furious 9. In this blog post, we will explore the connection between self-development and film. And we’ll add a little flavor, because films are food!

Trailers are like appetizers – they give us a taste of what’s to come and leave us craving for more.

First, you smell it, like Mama cooking breakfast downstairs on Christmas morning. The first nibble is the best. You smile in anticipation of hearing the music, a voice, a familiar face, or maybe charismatic words at a new movie that’s already giving you the jitters; it’s similar to your mouth watering at the scent of a home cooked meal. In that moment, you are open to and embracing change, a willing compatriot to be seduced into a new world, and open to the unknown, a new cuisine.

Main Course

Movies are the main course. And meals vary in terms of nutrition and fulfillment and even their reason for being created. A slice of pizza exists in food form (It’s Ferris Beullers Day Off obviously), there’s crab legs and beer (Pirates of the Caribbean) or a full course meal red wine, creme brûlée, pate, caviar, with braised lam chops (Fantom Thread or Silence of the Lambs).

Movie reviews and breakdowns examine movies; main courses – they provide us with a deeper understanding of the film’s message and themes. Understanding what you are eating and how it was made can increase the enjoyment or even horror at what you’re eating. Similarly, in our personal lives, it’s important to reflect on our experiences and learn from them. Taking the time to analyze our actions and thoughts can lead to personal growth and a greater understanding of ourselves.

Desert

The films we digest become part of us. We reinforce the things that affected us in our minds and in future actions. We heal ourselves with meals that agree with that we can digest. We want others to taste the same great meals and so we are all connected. Sharing a meal with friends and family is the theatre experience. Us together sharing in a dessert of a laugh, patting our bellies in delicious satisfaction.

So, go watch a movie and don’t forget to eat your veggies.
